LONDON // British actor Roger Moore, who won international fame playing James Bond, died on Tuesday aged 89.
Moore's family said he had died in Switzerland after a "short but brave" battle with cancer.
"We know our own love and admiration will be magnified many times over, across the world," they said. "Thank you Pops for being you, and for being so very special to so many people."
Moore's 12 years as the fictitious secret agent made him a millionaire as well as a heart-throb the world over. In later years he was an ambassador for Unicef, something his family said he considered to be his greatest achievement.
